University and sporting prowess

Studying a science degree, majoring in Chemistry, Peter graduated after just two years from Portsmouth University (municipal college).  During his college years, and along with his brother Tony he played Rugby for the College 1st XV.  He was also College track Athletics Captain and College Victor Ludorem - winning the 100, 440 and 800 yards races (the latter in record time). Peter played rugby for Portsmouth and ran the 440 and 880 yards for Portsmouth Athletic Club; competing in the Hampshire Championships. He was a founder member of Havant RFC and played for them until being drafted into the Army.
